The chestnut flour is one of our favourite ingredients when making desserts. This flour is made from dried ground chestnuts and it's gluten-free, making ideal for gluten-free desserts. This pale brown flour has its natural sweetness and is a great to avoid adding sugar or any other sweetener to the desserts.

We use chestnut flour for making brownies, muffinscookies, pancakes and other sweets. Ground chestnut (chestnut flour) has a sweet strong flavour and slightly pasty texture when cooked. 

Note that chestnut flour has no gluten so it usually needs to be mixed with another flour when used in baking. If you use another low gluten flour it will tend to be crumbly but still delicious. It can be purchased from your local organic food store.

In autumn chestnuts are collected and dried for forty days and once dried they are gradually ground into flour by millstones. The best time to buy the chestnut flour is therefore after the second half of November, when the new flour is available in the shops. You can buy chestnut fluor from your local organic food stores or online.
